“Tshisekedi disputes the re-election of President Joseph Kabila in a November 28 vote that the opposition rejected as fraudulent and international observers criticised for procedural chaos and irregularities.”

“Riot trucks loaded with police carrying tear-gas grenade launchers and rifles zoomed through the streets of Kinshasa, the capital, on Friday while tanks and heavily armed republican guards were deployed inside the stadium grounds where Tshisekedi had planned his rival swearing-in ceremony.”

  1. On 7th March I took part in the phone blockade and got through to a Mr Isa, Head of Immigration at the Nigerian High Commission. We spoke for about 15 minutes about the issues affecting people claiming asylum in this country, and although he was probably trying to fob me off, he did say he would look again at the High Commission’s involvement in the deportations. I am writing here because he gave me the name and address of the High Commissioner himself and said that if we wanted to write to them with statistics and wotnot they would meet with us to discuss things further. I do not feel knowledgeable to do this, but i thought it might be of interest:
